Why does the word ''muse'' not exist in the masculine ?
Dibudatès, is a triptych created in 2021 on the occasion of the exhibition Hard Corps, at Cent-Quatre in Paris. Three panels appear in the dark and form a narrative presenting different points of view. It directly refers to the Greek myth of Dibutadès, legend according to which pictorial art was born from the hand of a woman inspired by her lover's body.
Cécile Cornet questions the term “muse”, usually polarized around a female character, while the artist is often imagined masculine. She asks the question “why the word muse does not exist in the masculine form? ". This work is part in the affirmation of a female gaze in the painting. In 2023, the artist won the Danysz Prize for Creation contemporary, and Dibutadès joined the french Passages Foundation.
