At the heart of the artist's exploration are women of her family, all “fire cutters”. Feu, is an ode to the heat that resides not only in the hearth but in the heart of those who care for its flames. It is all the semantics around care and the image of witches which takes shape in this series of paintings. But it is also a personal quest for healing, where the body serves as a home. Recalling that in certain rituals of magic, the action of burning an object would cleanse and heal wounds related to it. This wandering through the twists and turns of the past, in search of oneself, reminds us that our origins and our social constructions travel with us, and that “home” ultimately does not really sedentary.
